REVIEW: The Burning God by R. F. Kuang

An epic conclusion to en epic trilogy. The Burning God was everything I wanted and more. It has always stayed true to the characters til the bitter end. The Burning God is Rin’s descent into madness in all it’s forms. It allows the reader the space to acknowledge the madness, but also the contributing factors like trauma, violence, greed, and the impact of power on morality.

I’m both heartbroken and reverent for all of these characters who have lived tough lives and made tough decisions. It’s taken me days to be able to put into words just how deeply I’ve been affected by this series, because these characters are so different from me, but they were all just kids once.

I wanted to keep this review brief and spoiler-free to hopefully be able to attest to the brilliance of all three books. This book series will live on forever in my heart and on my shelves. The cast of characters were so simultaneously terrible and lovely; and they were the most interesting characters I’ve come across in my life so far. I have nothing but praise for R. F. Kuang and this trilogy. I hope at some point, everyone will read them and have their lives changed too.
